How to perform Teeth Whitening Procedure with Photon Plus


Teeth Whitening is the only procedure that cannot be performed by Photon Laser Unit. For this procedure you need PhotonPlus

To perform Teeth Whitening Procedure with the help of Photon Plus Lasers, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Use ‘Lip & Cheek’ retractors to keep mouth open
  • Ensure no tissue is in contact with teeth to be bleached
  • Clean teeth
  • Take pre-op shade starting position A2 on vitapan shade guide
  • Dry teeth and gums
  • Apply gingival protector, such as liquid dam/ light cured dam to protect gums
  • Use curing light to set the light cured dam
  • Check to ensure that seal is complete between dam and gum/teeth
  • Apply gel to teeth 2-3 mm thick
  • Give patient diode laser goggles to wear that were provided with your Photon Plus kit
  • Apply laser energy 2W-3W for 30 seconds per tooth
  • Wait for 5 minutes
  • Stir the gel on each tooth and top up
  • Re-apply laser energy 2-3W, 30 seconds per tooth
  • Remove gel at the end of 10 minutes
  • Remove gel using suction and cotton wool rolls
  • Rinse teeth
  • Apply laser energy 1watt for 5 seconds on each tooth
  • Take shade on vitapan shade guide
  • Compare with before A2
  • Share the result with patient
You can also take the photographs of your patients teeth before and after the treatment to show him the real impact.
It is really important to inform your patient Advise NOT to have: coffee, tea, cola, tobacco, red wine for 48 hours as rehydration reduces shade. It is important to know that Laser Bleaching continues 48 hours.
